Founded in 2023
The Argyle is an online, bi-monthly that brings you the best poetry, fiction, CNF, essays, art, and more from across the globe.
The Argyle Literary Magazine (“The Argyle” for short) philosophy is simple: Good writing should be celebrated not segregated. We don’t follow a particular aesthetic nor do we prefer a certain “type” of literature or art. What we do care about is the artistry and impact of a piece: How we are touched, changed, even shaken to our cores by the images and words that wait for us just around the corners of proverbial pages.
The Argyle seeks to blur the lines between genres and strips the labels off your “little darlings,” offering an immersive experience of words and images that feeds the mind, stirs the soul, and disturbs the quiet of blank spaces. Our content is motley…and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
The Argyle is currently on indefinite hiatus, so submissions are CLOSED until further notice.
Why "The Argyle"?
Why "The Argyle"?
According to Wikipedia, "most argyle contains layers of overlapping motifs, adding a sense of three-dimensionality, movement, and texture," which is what we also feel makes writing great. Given this fact, we couldn't think of a better name for the magazine…plus it’s the name of our mascot.
A lot of consideration went into deciding what The Argyle would be about -- not necessarily speaking just to content but the culture The Argyle wants to create for itself and the writing community it's so eager to showcase and support. Will it be a platform for literary work? A hub for outsider artists? Well, yes!
No matter how you might label yourself or your work, it will be your work that defines who you are in The Argyle's eyes and that of our readers.
So, welcome to The Argyle and for being a part of our story.
A Multi-Modal Approach
The Argyle believes that “writing” is more than just words: It is about transfer of meaning in all of its manifestations, including sight and sound. Adding touch and smell would be groovy, too, but computer technology isn't quite there yet.
The Argyle seeks to incorporate multiple modes into our platform and broaden the literary/artistic experience for everyone.
